The Production of Chipi: Reunite or what was known as ProjectChipi, began all the way back to January of 2022. I was the one that originally came up with the Idea. I've had the Idea to make a game for over a year before that. But it wasn't until January 2022 that I told my Friends "Hey lets make a game!" And from there on out ProjectChipi has been through some different iterations. Originally the team consisted of 4 developers including myself. As of now the Team is now sitting at 11 developers including myself. The Game's concept as of now is different from then. Originally it was going to be an Open World Game, but as things progressed we noticed that it was going to be a very difficult task to create an open world game. So We decided to instead focus on a 3D Platformer Style and thats the concept we've been working on since.
Yes, I think one of the things that has made it more challenging to develop this game has been our other personal priorities. As you know, we all are doing this on our own freetime as we still have other jobs and School and Family Matters to deal with. So it has been challenging for our team to be able to work on the game sometimes. But we are always actively working on it And we're always are motivated to work on this game!
Well it is still not fully decided but it seems that the Artstyle will be a cartoonish or Cell Shaded Artstyle. This Artstyle was pitched by Game Director and Art Director, Allen Espinosa. He told me about this Artstyle and I thought it would be a great idea, since it is a very unique Artstyle and it would perfectly fit our game. But things can change anytime, We're still in the planning phase, but we have also already began some experimentation with Unreal Engine 5 to familiarize ourselves with it and to began implementing our Game Designs and Mechanics into the Project File. We are halfway done with our planning phase and soon will began full Game Programming and Animation Phase so Please Wait a while.
So in terms of Music, there will be many genres but Specifically, it will be a mix of Orchestral, Synths, or Ethnic types. Ethnic Specifically with one of the Characters of the game having a Spanish Style Guitar rhythm in the game. I wanted to make sure that the Music can also signify the Characters personality, and mood as well as the tone of the environment. I myself am one of the Composers of the Game, as is Landon Carrera. We also are getting help in terms of Music from Jiovani Espinosa who is one of the Game Designers and also is in charge of the Cinematography of the Game Cutscenes. While most music will be programmed with Software like Logic Pro and FL Studio, some of the music composed, with the help of Jiovani, will be recorded with real Instruments, so please look forward to that.
So as of now The Story is still being actively written. But it is definitely going for a more serious tone story instead of the typical cheery stories you get in 3D Platformers. The main Story writer is Aksel Bailon, who also supervises the Animation of the game, and he's working on the story with Oscar Hernandez, who is also a Game Designer and Programmer of the game. Although they're writing the story, I supervise the story to make sure it stays family friendly. (haha) Although the story is more serious, we still want it to be appropriate for all Audiences.
Well as of now, I cannot talk about the story. But I will gladly talk about it in the near future, so please wait a while.
Well much of the Inspirations we got from other games are from games like Kingdom Hearts, Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Sonic Frontiers, Super Mario 3D World, Crash Bandicoot, I could list more but yeah we're actively looking at these games and seeing their mechanics and then we then say "How can we make it better?". As well as coming up with our new unique ideas of course. (Haha)
So far I can confirm that it will be available on Windows and Mac. It will be sold on Steam. But we're also actively working on also porting it to Consoles as well. Specifically, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and 4, and Nintendo Switch. Some people also mentioned if we are going to port to Mobile Devices like Android and iOS but I can confirm that we will not, unless it gains a lot of requests, then we will consider it. But as of now, only PC, Mac, and Consoles.
Yes, the teaser trailer we released back in October was just a small teaser of one of the CGI Cutscenes. As for the next trailer, I am not sure when we'll release another one as of now. We're still working on the game so please wait a while.
Well, we're still working on this first game so as of now we haven't really thought about future plans, but some ideas have been circling around the team. All I can say is that depending on the success of this game, we may have either a Sequel or a Spinoff. But I am uncertain what it will be, as of now. (haha)
First is to deliver a great and fun game to the public, Second is to prove our abilities to develop games to everyone. And third, to revolutionize the 3D Platformer Genre. These three things are our Main Development Studio Objectives.
